Bushbaby, Explorer and Safari

A First for Africa
The In Production since 1994 the Bushbaby has proven to be Africa’s most successful kit aircraft.
Based on time proven designs with the latest laminar aerodynamics for incredible performance and economy.
Engineered for Africa with a jig-welded, steel tube, airframe and wings incorporating aluminium spars and plywood ribs.
The whole structure is fabric covered resulting in a super light and tough structure ideal for African "Bush plane" conditions.
A Pilots Dream
The Bushbaby has the following qualities:
* The conventional three-axis control system provides excellent handling and controllability.
* Highly manoeuvrable with well balanced, light and responsive, dual controls and very docile flight characteristics.
* Dual controls with each pilot having his own control stick. No shared single stick!
* Differential aerofoil flapperons provide unrivalled manoeuvrability even at very low airspeeds.
* A fully enclosed and roomy cabin that can accommodate 2 adults, plus baggage, for a long cross-country flight.
* Wing tanks with 100 Litres capacity giving up to 7 hours endurance. (No reserve)
* Superb visibility and the capability to fly with the doors open for true bird like flight.
* At the end of the day fold away the wings, within 5 minutes, and store the aircraft in a one-car garage at home!
* The fuselage is configured to accept the tri-cycle or tail dragger undercarriage. Convert at any time!
* A wide range of 65-100 hp engines provides power.
* Taking off and landing in as little as 100 meters of unprepared runway.
* Versatile, can be used for short "bush" hops or for long distance commuting.
* Excellent STOL and cruise capability.
* Excellent resale value: Nowhere in the world can you buy a similar aircraft kit at such a low price.

EXPLORER
The Bushbaby-Explorer design was based on the Bushbaby aircraft. The market dictated the need for an aircraft with a wider door opening and larger cabin.
Modifications
1. Larger door opening
2. Roof and floor widened by 2”
3. Roof lifted by 1”
4. Vertical fin/ rudder higher
5. Horizontal stabilizer struts moved to lower longeron.

The above changes to the Bushbaby fuselage turned the Bushbaby- Explorer into an aircraft with ample shoulder and head area. The larger door allows for easier entry into the cabin. The increased vertical fin has made the aircraft more stable. The above modifications are small enough to allow the Explorer to be built in the bushbaby jig, thus saving costs.
The Explorer retains the Bushbaby wing, lift struts, flapperons, control system, elevator/ stabilizer and the Nose/ tail wheel.
In the 912 format the Bushbaby-Explorer has a new sleeker engine cowl and slightly raked/ larger windscreen.
No conversion needed, Pilots with Bushbaby ratings can fly the Explorer. (RSA)

SAFARI
This aircraft is an exciting new development in the bushbaby camp and still undergoing type certification. The Safari is a totally new aircraft, developed from the highly successfull Bushbaby airframe. Major design changes include a wider cockpit area, more headroom and a longer fuselage with a large baggage compartment. The wing is stiffened at 66% instead of the normal 50% wich will increase the MAUW to be arround 700kg-750kg with a empty weight of arround 320kg. The max pilot lenght will be arround 2.1m. We expect type certification to be complete before the end of 2008
